Leon Košavić, born on July 31, 1991, in Croatia, is a distinguished baritone whose voice has captivated audiences across Europe and beyond. Raised in the serene town of Ozalj, Leon’s deep connection to his roots has been a source of inspiration throughout his career.

From a young age, Leon exhibited a passion for singing, a talent that would later define his career. He pursued formal training in music, where his exceptional vocal abilities were quickly recognized by his mentors, including the renowned Belgian bass-baritone José van Dam and the distinguished Croatian bass-baritone Giorgio Surian. Under their guidance, Leon honed his deep, resonant voice and developed the emotional expressiveness that sets him apart as a leading talent in the world of opera.

Leon’s professional journey as a baritone began with performances in Croatia, where he quickly gained a reputation for his powerful stage presence and versatile vocal range. His repertoire spans a wide array of operatic roles, from the classical works of Mozart and Verdi to contemporary compositions. Leon’s interpretation of each role is marked by a profound understanding of the characters he portrays, bringing them to life with authenticity and depth.

Leon has performed in some of the most prestigious opera houses in the world, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opernhaus Zürich, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Teatro Regio Torino, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Real Madrid, La Monnaie in Brussels and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Parisées in Paris.

In the last season, Leon took on a variety of major roles across prominent opera houses. He performed as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at the Opéra de Montréal and at the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek. In Palermo, he sang Masetto in Don Giovanni under the baton of Riccardo Muti, followed by a concert tour with Les Musiciens du Louvre. As part of the tour, he performed Falke in Die Fledermaus at both the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Additionally, he sang Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, and the role of Posega in Cublai, gran kan de’ Tartari. To conclude the season, Leon appeared as Ping in Turandot at La Monnaie in Brussels. This season, Leon’s engagements include performing the role of Leander in The Love for Three Oranges at the Theatre St. Gallen, a concert version of Così fan tutte at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos in Rouen. He will also reprise his role as Falke during another concert tour with Les Musiciens du Louvre. Furthermore, he will join forces with Nathalie Stutzmann and the New York Philharmonic for a series of concerts, further expanding his global presence.
